The following is a quote from How Mothering Makes More of Us   It touches on concepts which our culture would like us to think of as a curse, yet Jesus says following it leads to a lifestyle of blessing.
Becoming a mother is akin to being a grain of wheat thrust deep into the soil. There’s a sudden anonymity about your [...]

Last night was our first birth class. I picked Andrew up at work a little after 3 as we had things to drop of earlier in Topeka for friends. Andrew was thoroughly distracted the entire drive down and I decided I was unable to distract him from his distractions even by trying to talk about what the [...]

Have you felt your baby’s hiccups yet? Chances are high that you have but perhaps you have not recognized them as such. When your baby hiccups, it feels like a very small, rhythmic movement, almost like small kicks but they are consistent in nature. Hiccups mean that your baby is drinking your amniotic fluid and [...]

Invade

Come, come in
Invade all You see of us
Any man, who’d walk Your road is welcomed here
And You’re the only one
Jesus, come and walk the halls of this house
Tread this place and turn it inside out
With Your mercy…
Jesus, teach us the prayers that open these doors
Until Your light floods in and illuminates these floors
And let Your [...]

The baby most definitely has hiccups! It is hilarious. It’s head must be down low because I feel them most very low in my belly. So strange!
I may be scarce on here and around blogs for a couple of weeks. These pregnancy hormones are wreaking havoc on my sanity and I am going crazy de-cluttering. By the [...]

Tomorrow marks 28 weeks (beginning the 7th month!).
The baby responds to light and sound.
The baby is now about 15 to 16 inches long and weighs about 2 1/2 to 3 pounds.
The baby can open and close her eyes and suck her thumb.
The baby exercises by kicking and stretching.
From here.
I read some where that it [...]

Only You

Dusty my soul tonight.
Earth has been dear.
Bewildered, I come to You,
Father God, hear.
Idols that charm me,
dreams that allure,
pains that alarm me,
suspense to endure,
memories that linger,
thoughts that ensnare,
a heart that is aching,
all crumpled by care,
unsatisfied, restless,
scarce able to pray–
everything , everything
take it away.
Only You,
none but You,
Jesus alone:
ashes the rest to me,
songs with a groan,
take them each [...]

What a beautiful word.

The trip home was safe and uneventful other than having several delays. The first flight scheduled to leave at 10 didn’t leave till 3:30 and the second flight we missed so we caught another after enjoying a bit of non-plane food in LA. Salad never tasted that good after dowing strange combinations of [...]

Goodbye Australia

It is 5:55 Thursday morning and we leave in a half an hour for the airport. So far the only update we know of so far is that the flight out of Austraia is delayed by an hour. Hopefully it won’t affect our flight out of LA.
After 6 weeks it feels so weird to be [...]

After over 5 weeks of being eaten alive by misquitos I would like to share with you a natural way to stay in tact if you happen to be one of those “tasty” sweet blooded types. It is as simple as patting a few drops of vinegar on your skin before being exposed to the bugs. [...]

We walked for a while and then hopped back in the car to get a closer view of the harbor area. We ended up getting fed up with [...]

26 weeks

Happy 4th of July from Australia. (Yes, it is Friday morning here!)
This is a first for spending my 4th in a motel in Australia by myself! I think we are going to have to re-celebrate it once we get back.

Oh and please pray that Andrew doesn’t have to go back to Australia in a month [...]

Ouch

The heart burn has arrived.

Oh and tomorrow is our last week in the 2ed trimester! I must say the baby’s activity level has gone up considerably the past few days. Baby is packing some good punches nearly every hour and especially loves to wake me up early in the morning. I told Andrew sleepily this [...]

This article by Andree Seu is such a good reminder. This one really made me think about “happiness”. It wasn’t so much that I did or did not agree with the studies conclusions it made me mull on the purpose of life and the wisdom that comes from not seeking instant gratification. I especially liked the comments that people [...]
