“Oh that God would give every mother a vision of the glory and splendor of the work that is given to her when a babe is placed in her bosom to be nursed and trained! Could she have but one glimpse into the future of that life as it reaches on into eternity; could she look into it’s soul to see its possibilities; could she be made to understand her own personal responsibility for the training of this child, for the development of its life, and for its destiny,–she would see that in all God’s world there is no other work so noble and so worthy of her best powers, and she would commit to no others hands the sacred and holy trust given to her.”

I hope that all you mothers had a wonderful day yesterday. Andrew always one to be non-traditional celebrated it a bit early for me by making home made spelt waffles early Saturday morning. I woke up to the sound of the electric beater going and had a hint something was going on. He knew I’ve been waking up extra hungry and homemade waffles are my favorite! Friday it was so funny I ate more than he did for dinner. I kept eating another piece of chicken and another and then an hour after wards I was hungry again. Yogurt is a good after dinner filler upper though. This baby is growing! I can’t wait to find out how big s/he is tomorrow at the midwife appointment.
On Saturday in the spirit of celebrating Mothers Day, Andrew, the thoughtful guy he is figured shopping would be a fun day for me, albeit not for himself must I must add-”Andrew go shopping”-siblings gasp! So we headed down trip to Kansas City to mull over which couch to buy finally after walking our legs of at Nebraska Furniture Mart we had narrowed it down to 2 couches which I liked equally well. That made it tricky so Andrew cast the deciding vote. They were having a good sale and free delivery the only catch is it will be delivered while we are in Australia. We will enjoy it when we get back I guess. We ate dinner at a Japanese restaurant and I had *non-raw* sushi and seaweed salad that was delicious. Andrew had beef which was not spicy enough for him. Andrew tried the sushi and agreed it was good. He is becoming quite international in his food tastes although I have yet to have him agree that kimchee and kefir are good. He is so missing out! Anyways it was such a fun day being out with Andrew. It reminded me of being back in Columbus because the shopping complex is like Easton Town Center–supper trendy, new and busy. We had the hardest time finding parking space. I think I am truly used to the country now because it freaked me out a bit coming back to mega populations. It was fun though having tons of choices of places to eat and shop for a change. I remember when I could go to 15 different stores easily in a day and that was so common it was almost boring. Now I just about bounce of the walls just thinking of going to a strip mall with more than 3 stores on it. Yikes! What a change from last year in Pittsburgh. It is good though having less chance to be a consumer. I am finding I need less clothes and gadgets than I ever thought before. When you have to drive over an hour to get them it makes you think twice. Although gotta admit it I miss Trader Joes…but hey who wouldn’t miss a place with a million different types of olives and olive based foods? Aw I miss good kalamata olives!! I was pretty spoiled having a Trader’s near my house in Columbus. Well, I am off to vacuum and make a salad. Hope everyone is enjoying this Spring and for those who are in Kansas not getting blown away. This wind I tell you–it is quite something.
Oh and for all you seasoned mothers it normal for your baby to wake you up at 2am dancing a jig? It has happened 3 days in a row now.
Not sure if I am a “seasoned mama” but yes- my littles are always awake in the middle of the night… not that it matters b/c I always have to get up to go potty eighty billion times… :) You’re walking around all day quiets your baby. Then when you are ready to sleep (inbetween going potty!), they awake b/c you are still.

Oh, and Eric always talks to our little ones just before going to bed- he likes to poke my belly and watch the baby respond… then he drifts off to sleep while I get to stay awake. :)
If you’re not a seasoned mama Heather I don’t know who is!
Nope- got too much to learn yet! :) Sure is fun though! And challenging! :)
